Are there any fashion design schools in North Carolina besides Charlotte's art institute. I want a school that teaches sewing and design and everything needed to be a personal stylist or fashion designer on a photo shoot. Are there any schools in near by states, and do any provide dorms

Im 17 years old. im a senior in charlotte , north carolina. Im applying for colleges this month. I want to know if i have any chance to get into any off the colleges im looking at. I have a 2.5 unwieghted GPA. On my SAT's. my Critical reading score was a 480 , Math a 470, Writting 480 please behonest. do i have anychance to get into, UNCC, UNCG, UNCP, UNCW, NC STATE, NC A & T??????

Your best bet would be a local open enrollment community college where you can build up a college GPA that can transfer.

UNC-Pembroke: Should not be a problem. NC A&T: Shouldn't be a problem, especially if you're a minority The rest of them are going to be tricky, especially UNC-Greensboro and UNC-Wilmington. Not sure about UNC-Charlotte -- it can go one way or another. Have you considered starting in community college first? You might have a better shot at the school you want if you can prove that you can do well in college work. Right now, your SATs are weak, they are all below the national average, and your GPA is unremarkable. Just out of curiosity, why in the heck are you waiting this long to complete your college applications? My daughter had all of hers submitted by October 15th. I have read a load of comments about pros/cons however I am curious to what current residents of Charlotte think of the area, specifically: Crime Rates School Systems Neighborhoods to look into/and to avoid etc. Thanks

Crime rate is out of this world....and the school system is going thru a major crisis. If you are thinking of moving to Charlotte, think about Concord, Kannapolis, and Hunterville in North Carolina and Rock Hill in South Carolina. Much better areas and cheaper too..........

Charlotte, North Carolina?
| Charlotte, North Carolina? I currently live in new york and it is getting too expensive! I have a small bi-level that would be sold for around $350,000. My family chose North Carolina because it is said to be very nice and cheap. We are going there june 26 and are going to be looking around the Charlotte area because there are supposed to be a lot of available homes/jobs. Can someone reccomend a good place to live near charlotte with the houses in price range from $200,000 to $250,000. Also any additional information would be greatly appreciated, especially about the high school because my brother and I would be attending it next year. But for medical school, you'll have fewer choices in NC: Duke University in Durham. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Anybody know of rich quiet suburbs outside of Charlotte North Carolina? I need names.?
I am doing some city and geography research and I need to know if there are any small or medium sized wealthy suburbs outside of Charlotte North Carolina. I would like to know some details about the area and maybe the names of private schools in these rich suburb areas. *it has to be an area that's outside but close to Charlotte maybe like a 30 min or 1hr drive.

The best thing to do is talk to a real estate agent... but here are some places you can look at: Myers Park neighborhood is close to Uptown area. It's very beautiful and lots of trees and big houses and condos and a few apartments to rent. Dilworth is a nice place to live if you like to walk everywhere. Lots of quaint shops and good dining in the area. Matthews is a little more spread out (less city than the other two areas in some areas) and there are some better areas than others but there is some really good housing in this area as well. I'm less familiar with Union County but that has some good places to live as well and school systems are pretty good as well.

I'm a Realtor in the Lake Norman market. We have several very wealthy areas around the Lake, The Peninsula and The Point both have homes in the Million++ range. There are a couple of neighborhoods in Cabarrus county, Concord/Kannapolis, that have homes in the Million++ range and some of the Panthers players live in these neighborhoods. Also, around Lake Norman, you have many homes owned by Nascar drivers, team owners, etc. that tend to be very expensive. I'd be happy to send you some links to listings so you can get an idea of the areas if you'd like. Just let me know.

I am moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. Which area has the best public schools and neighborhoods?
We are relocating and I have NEVER been to Charlotte. I do not have to be in Charlotte, surrounding suburbs are alright too. I am looking for an upper middle class area that is child friendly with great public schools. Established neighborhood preffered. Also, tell me what you think of the Charlotte area.

Not to offend anybody but i heard North Carolina schools were behind and that it would be easy is that true? the schools i were looking at are Millbrook Raleigh Charter William G Enole High Renaissance School Mallard Creek Ardrey Kell high school.....also whats the best neighborhood that's still in the metro area of both Raleigh And North Carolina like what zip code or something

I am a new teacher from New York looking to relocate due to a bad job market up here. What are some nice suburbs outside of Charlotte with good schools?

I don't know if moving to NC is gonna solve the bad job market issue, we just moved to TX because the situation in Charlotte was becoming unbearable. But we work in a totally different industry, so it might be different for your field. Matthews is a wonderful place to raise a family, great schools, beautiful family oriented community. 20-30 min. commute to charlotte downtown, close to everything. Try to stay in the southeast side of Charlotte, avoid the west side altogether. University area is nice, been there only a handful of times, but looks like a nice area, except that for me, it seems like it's far from everything. Matthews, Ballantyne, Pineville, Indian Trail, Waxhaw are all nice areas, good schools, low crime. Good luck, I hope everything works out for you.

does anyone know great Acting and singing schools in charlotte North Carolina that wont break the bank?

I have been surfing the web for hours to find acting lessons or a school. i really want to be an actress and singer but don't know where to start. i found this school called John Roberts Powers. I just want to know if it was a good school and how much it will cost. I wouldn't suggest you go to them. As for performing art schools, it's sad to say, but, there is no art school out there that isn't cheap. Or at least any GOOD art school that isn't cheap. We relocated from NY in 1998 -- lived in South Charlotte first and now in Union county. We love it here -- have 3 kids, 2 still in elementary school and one in middle school. Check this site for school reports: http://www.ncreportcards.org/src/ listed by county, then choose individual school.
