The top-ranking school system in NC has for a long time been the Chapel Hill/Carrboro city school system. Wake County (which includes Raleigh & Cary) also ranks pretty high, but is lately extremely overcrowded.

Davidson County, Wallburg area outskirts of Winston-Salem and Thomasville NC.

Charlotte-Mecklenberg system is the most advanced that i know of. i think i saw a news report a few weeks ago about i think Chatam county usually being number 1 in the state. (www.news14.com should help) DO NOT COME TO FAYETTEVILLE!!!! STAY AWAY!! lol. the school systems sucks here, except for Southview's IB academy but unless you want your kids in Harvard you don't need it.
